Grohar’s Week is one of the traditional events in Sorica. It has been organised by the Educational Association Ivan Grohar Sorica for more than 30 years. The members of the association determine the events and prepare the program, often in cooperation with the Sorica Branch School and the Grohar house. Grohar’s week usually took place in the first week of June, and in recent years it has been held in the second week of the same month. The event used to be best known for the concert of the Orfej music group, which was first led by Miro Kačar and then Gašper Kačar took over the conductor’s baton. You could say that these were the golden years of Grohar’s week, as the concerts really left their mark, both musically and in terms of content. Now, unfortunately, the music group Orfej is no longer active.
Events are usually scheduled over two weekends around the 2nd week of June. We take care of different generations and differently colored cultural content. Since the event is connected with the great painter Ivan Grohar, we cannot go through an art event in the form of a painting colony or workshops for children and adults. The event has a musical element, so we end the week with a Grohar’s Week event, where most of the performances come from local people and pupils from Sorica Primary School. In the meantime, we take care of some new content every year. Over the years, a number of different events have taken place, such as art colonies, drama performances, art and music workshops, literary evenings, basketball tournaments, various hikes and wanderings in Sorica and its surroundings, regular annual concerts by the Orfej music group with guests, the Ivan cinema, various exhibitions, and concerts …
Grohar Week is an event that invites different generations and different interests, so surely everyone finds something for themselves. So see you next Grohar week!
